Contents Page Analyse

Target audience – The primary target audience for this magazine is 15-30 year old; but is for both genders and generally for people that have a interest in films, the majority of people reading this magazine fall into the audience demographic at band C1 down to E.
Layout – The layout on this page really fits well with the conventions, it has a big title saying ‘content’ to show the reader that this is the contents page. They have used a big picture in the centre of the page; this is used in most magazine contents pages to give the theme of the magazine. This is more a professional layout and is clear for the readers. Down the right hand side there are the features; this tells you all the best things that are in the magazine but not everything. There are not loads of pictures so it makes it less busy, which fits the common conventions.
Colours – They have used a good colour pallet of 3 colours (black, white and red) which all fit well together. These 3 colours are very popular in the making of the magazine. These are the colours that the younger modern generation like to view and that’s why it makes this magazine very popular, and cater well for the target audience. A dark background is very popular; it then brings out the other details on the screen like the works and the big centre picture.
Texts/Teasers – They have used a lot of text on this but not too much. They have given the readers a rough idea of the best things in the magazine. However it doesn’t give the reader everything about that topic, it gives a quick sentence giving ideas about it. Next to theses short sentences there are big numbers theses are the page numbers, which fits with the common conventions, and most contents pages use these. Also there is a date, this is good because it gives the readers knowledge of what the date is and if they are reading the same magazine or not.
Images - The image used on this contents page fit very well with the layout of it, the use of one big picture makes the contents page look more professional and not busy. It has a few pictures at the bottom of different magazines from previous months; this is useful because the readers can see what they have read and what they haven’t.
Typography – This content page has a month and year so that you can recognise what magazine you are reading and what you haven’t. This fits well with the common conventions of contents pages in magazines.

Target audience – The primary target audience for this magazine is 15-30 year old women that are interested in glamour. The majority of people reading this magazine fall into the audience demographic at band C1 down to E.
Layout – The layout of this contents page is very good. The masthead is nice and big so you know what magazine it is; it has a big picture to represent the magazine. However I do not like the size of the font when it is giving little bits of information about the magazine. Ideally they could be a bit bigger so people with bad eyesight could read it clear. Overall the layout is to a high standard and uses all the common conventions.
Colours – The colour pallet on this magazine works well together. They have chosen colours that work well and go together. The use of these bright colours works well to grab the reader’s attention. These are the colour that the younger modern generation like to view and that’s why it makes this magazine very popular, and cater well for the target audience.
Texts and Teasers – They have used a lot of texts and teasers, they have used these because they need to give the readers little hints about what is in the magazine. If there weren’t any then the readers wouldn’t be able to find out what is in side. These are part of the main conventions that are on a contents page.
