Feature Analysis

Review
This is a feature article review of a rock band, I am going to analyse this article in detail to get a good understanding on what is expected in a feature article so that I can use ideas form this in my own work.

Colour
This magazine feature article follows the common conventions by using a colour palette with colours of red, yellow, white, and black. I will use a colour palette when creating my feature article. The connotations of the colour red can connote death and blood, which really fits in with the whole genre of rock and with the text in the article. The denotation of yellow connotes joy and happiness and is used as an attention grabber which is why it is used in certain places on the page to make it stand out; however in this case it would not connote joy because it is in a rock magazine so it isn't connoting joy. The Theory; Stanley Hall's theory (1904) of 'Adolescence is inherently a time of storm and stress when 'all' young people go through some degree of emotional and behavioural upheaval' and black is normally used to connote his theory. So this is why black is used in this article.

Layout
The layout follows the common coventions as it includes a title at the top which spreads across both pages, something I will include in my own feature article. There is a large image taking up half of one of the pages of the person who is being interviewed. Minor images are placed on the other pages with small text on each picture to explain about it. They have used big fonts to make this page stand out and immediately makes the reader read the text to see if they would be interested. Page numbers are placed in the bottom of each page in the corners so that the audience will know what page they are on. I will also include this in my own article.
typography style

Title
They have used a very large title in this, this is because it is a brilliant way to grab the target audience and get their attention. So when they are flicking through the magazine they spot this page and quickly have a look at it. This is a common convention and i am going to use this in my own creation.

Typography
for the typography they have used a lot of it because this is a main common convention that is need on the double page spread. The typography needed is to tell the readers what the story is and what it is about. Usually there is only one page of typography because there is usually images and a title telling the reader what the other page is about.

Conclusion
Overall i think that this double page spread works really well by fitting in with the main common conventions that you would expect on a double page spread. When creating my own double page spread I am going to take in all these common conventions and include all of these into my own so I can achieve a high quality and effective double page spread.
